Performers
We are delighted to announce the following performers at TEDxBlighStreet 2018.
The Lumiphonic Creature Choir
Mark Bolotin is an award-winning multimedia artist, inventor and technologist, as well as the founder of Synarcade Audio-Visuals and co-founder of the renowned New York art technology company Hyphen Hub.
Bolotin creates hybrid creatures and interactive multimedia work that fuse together theatre, film, music, puppetry and artificial intelligence technology in unique new ways. These interactive work include “Emergence: Build Your Own Being” (Sydney Opera House, 2007), in which audiences came together to create their ideal human being over four giant screens and then watch it come alive, and his current work “The Lumiphonic Creature Choir” in which a giant twelve-headed creature comes alive and begins to sing. Bolotin has created multimedia work across the world including at the New York Hall of Science, Museum of Modern Art (Zagreb), 3LD Art Technology Centre New York, Sydney Festival, SXSW (Texas), Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney), Burning Man, Melbourne Arts House, and the Sydney Opera House. He was also the Arts Hub Co-Director for New York City’s inaugural Creative Tech Week 2015, a giant city-wide festival that involved over 800 leading tech artists and organisations including MOMA and the Met Museum.
Arthur Gruselle
Arthur’s introduction to painting came relatively late in life; as a result of gift of a paintbrush and canvas in his late teens.
However, his art education began at a much younger age; creating, drawing and experimenting as he grew up in a home of art lovers and collectors in a city perhaps best known for art and indeed artists, Paris.
Working mainly with acrylic on canvas, Arthur creates collages, drawings and sketches that convey energy, strength and movement in various abstracted forms. The colours you see in his work come almost exclusively from a base of three tubes of paint – the primary colours red, blue and yellow.
Arthur will be painting a piece called ‘To strive, to seek, to find’ exclusively at TEDxBlighStreet.
Artificial Intelligence meets Soccer - UNSW Robot Soccer Team
rUNSWift is Australia’s five-time world champion in robot soccer. RoboCup is an annual international robotics competition, promoting robotics, AI research and STEM education. Our team competes in the “Standard Platform League”, where fully autonomous humanoid robots compete in a 5v5 game. Every team uses exactly the same hardware, so to win you have to write intelligent software!
The team, which consists of undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students, is currently in preparation for the next RoboCup, which will be held in Sydney, 2-8 July, 2019 at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour.
